The University provides its students with numerous tools and resources to monitor their academic progress and stay on course towards graduation, such as live degree auditing through uAchieve and printable checklists and flowcharts to help plan courses. Students should make regular advising appointments to make sure they remain on track towards graduating successfully.

1. Check your major requirements
Engineering is an intricate field requiring the collaboration of multiple professionals, making errors more likely and projects being delayed than anticipated. To prevent such situations from arising, engineers should utilize an engineering audit checklist in order to ensure their projects are completed on schedule while fulfilling all required specifications.

An engineering 5S audit is a thorough assessment of your organization’s engineering and manufacturing processes. This evaluation can help to improve productivity, safety, efficiency and ensure compliance with industry standards.

An engineering 5S audit typically involves taking a tour of your facility and inspecting all production processes, workspaces and equipment in use. Furthermore, this audit evaluates storage conditions, routine maintenance practices and testing/calibration procedures so as to identify any potential issues early and work towards their resolution in order for your team to work more effectively resulting in higher-quality products.

2. Check your minor requirements
If you are considering taking on a minor, be sure to review its requirements carefully. Each department offering the minor will set their own requirements; any questions about them should be directed toward that particular department. Furthermore, be mindful that some courses required may overlap with requirements of your ME degree – for instance EECS 180 can meet both Core requirements and Specialization Elective electives requirements simultaneously.

At the conclusion of your final semester, it is advisable to meet with both your Digital Studies advisor and major advisor(s) in order to verify that all requirements for your CoE degree have been fulfilled, along with any honors/supplemental study programs/minor requirements you are pursing or minor requirements you might need for graduation. This process is known as senior audit and it must take place for you to graduate successfully.

3. Check your general education requirements
An effective degree audit is an invaluable way to track your academic progress towards graduation, so it’s wise to become acquainted with it as soon as you arrive at university. Students receive training on using Degree Works during orientation sessions; additionally, online tutorials provide further assistance.

Some courses can fulfill multiple requirements, so it is crucial that Degree Works uses these lists effectively. For instance, one course may appear both on HASS and Core lists but only count toward fulfilling one of them.

Be mindful that some courses can only be taken either for credit or as non-credit (CR/NC). To take a course as a CR/NC option, be sure to first consult with your major program and obtain approval; grades earned in such courses only impact your GPA at U-M as a whole.

4. Check your graduation requirements
Students aiming to graduate on time should complete an official senior audit early in their final year, to increase their odds. An audit will demonstrate which requirements have been fulfilled and those still outstanding; it also helps track any courses taken twice and counted toward graduation requirements once. Furthermore, all major requirements, minor requirements, and general education credits must have been satisfied before graduating (122 minimum credits in total).

Last, students should submit an application for graduation via Wolverine Access in the term immediately prior to their expected date of graduation. This will ensure all degree requirements have been fulfilled and instructors can submit grades promptly. A student can access their application status through “Student Business” link within Wolverine Access account.
